PARK TWP., MI (WHTC) – A 48-year-old Park Township man is in the Ottawa County Jail after a harrowing incident on Wednesday afternoon. According to sheriff’s deputies, Thomas DeVries was reportedly “despondent” as he texted his spouse about having a long gun in his possession. He then allegedly brandished the weapon at her and a friend of hers as they approached a residence off of Washington Street near 160th Avenue. Situation teams were called to the scene as DeVries barricaded himself inside of the house for about 90 minutes before surrendering peacefully. Nobody was hurt in the incident. DeVries was arraigned on two felonious assault charges and remains held on five thousand dollars bond pending a scheduled February 26th arraignment in Holland District Court.
