ST. JOSEPH, MI (WHTC) – In an effort to show support for improving water quality in the St. Joseph River Watershed, Michigan’s two US Senators, Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters, were joined by fellow Democrat Joe Donnelly of Indiana this morning in a ceremony at the Pier 33 Marina in St. Joseph. They touted a 15.6 million-dollar joint public-private Conservation Partnership aimed at helping area farmers improve soil quality, along with upgrading water quality and the wildlife habitat in the watershed. The money was part of last year’s Farm Bill that Stabenow had shepherded through Congress as the Senate Agriculture Committee Chairwoman.
