GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC) – A 43-year-old Grand Rapids man pleaded guilty to federal bank robbery charges stemming from heists in the Calder City and in the Tulip City. John Michael Barrara admitted taking about a thousand dollars from a Chase branch inside the Alpine Avenue Meijer on May 6th, and four days earlier, held up the Ninth Street Fifth Third branch in Holland of over 19 hundred dollars. As a repeat convicted bank robber, Barrara could get up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced on June 1st.
