SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – State Department of Transportation officials will be on hand this afternoon for a public hearing into proposed road work in South Haven this summer. Contractors will be upgrading traffic signals and sidewalk ramps at two intersections along the Business 196 route. One will be on Phoenix Street at Broadway, and the other on LeGrange Street at Aylworth Avenue. M-DOT is also planning to purchase “a small parcel of right of way” from a “property eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places” in order to accomodate traffic signal safety improvements, and will also ask for permission to build a sidewalk on the South Haven High School campus. This afternoon’s session runs from 4 PM to 5:45 PM at South Haven City Hall.
