DORR, MI (WHTC) – Laura Smith-Valazquez never thought her telescope to the stars was her ticket to Mars. Smith-Valazquez is one of 100 worldwide canidates selected to participate in a one-way mission to begin colonizing Mars. A Dorr Michigan native, Laura is now living in Maryland.
“Mars One” is a Dutch based non profit intends to choose 24 people beginning in 2024 to make up six crews that would begin blasting off to the red planet every two hours. It’s a one way trip.
No human has ever set foot on Mars and some spacecraft sent there have been lost.
