UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 10, 2022) – The second of two nose counts for public schools across Michigan was held on Wednesday.
In the biannual student census that helps determine state financial aid, there wasn’t too much of a negative difference among Lakeshore districts. West Ottawa remains the largest in this area at 6,559, down 16 from the count last October, while Zeeland fell 25 to 6,058. Holland slipped one to 3, 080, while Hamilton was up 31 to 2,381, and both Fennville and Saugatuck lost three to 1,296 and 839, respectively.
The February count comprises 10 percent of the state’s per-pupil allocation, which stands at $8,700 for Academic 2022. All districts have until the end of the month to modify their results to the Michigan Department of Education.
