-HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Area schools are making up snow days. Michigan public schools must hold class for a minimum of 175 days and 1.098 hours. An excess of snow days over the state’s limit means students in West Ottawa Public Schools will have longer school days for the rest of the year and some Black River Public School students will have to have an additional half-day of school.
West Ottawa schools will be adding five minutes on to the end of the day starting on Monday.
Schools in Michigan must make up any hours missed or risk losing their state funding.
