Wayland Woman Claims Surgical Boot Led to Crash Into Home’s Family Room

LEIGHTON TWP., MI (WHTC) – A 61-year-old Wayland area woman was hospitalized for observation after her vehicle crashed into a northeast Allegan County home this afternoon. The unnamed driver claimed that a surgical boot that she had on her right foot got stuck on the accelerator, causing the minivan to end up in the house’s family room off of 146^th Avenue near 8^th Street. The homeowner wasn’t in at the time, and thought that a deputy’s call about the incident was a prank so he didn’t immediately return to the scene.
