ALLENDALE, MI (WHTC) – Investigators say that an April Fools prank gone bad led to a fire in a building at an off-campus townhouse apartment complex near Grand Valley State University this morning. Crews from several departments were called to Campus West around 9 AM after reports of smoke and flames coming from a unit. All of the residents escaped unharmed, while no injuries were reported among firefighters. It is believed that a firecracker thrown into a clothes hamper ignited the blaze.
