HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Fifty years ago, the DeZwaan windmill arrived in Holland to become the centerpiece of Windmill Island Gardens.
Tomorrow marks the 50th anniversary celebration of that event. Activities kick off at 9:30 with a 5-K run titled “Run of the Mill,” followed by 1-mile walk. There will also be a Taste of Dutch food and cake competition, and the Kinder Dutch kids will dance in their wooden shoes.
There’s also a new book that will be available, written by Windmill Island events director Alisa Crawford, that depicts the history of the windmill. Signed copies will be available. Admission to the island tomorrow is free.
