GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – The sixth annual Katty Shack Race which raises money for the Crime Victim Foundation of Michigan, will be held in Grand Haven this Saturday.
In September of 2008, four people were found murdered in Wright Township near Marne in Ottawa County. The home the bodies were found in had been torched.
The man who killed them, Troy Blake, is now serving life in prison for the crime.
The Mother of 19-year-old victim Katherine Brown, Natalie Kik-Brown met Joan Grillo, the Ottawa County Victim’s Rights Coordinator and she helped her channel her grief into something positive.
Joan Grillo, co-race director and Ottawa Victim Rights Coordinator says many victims do not have resources from the point of victimization to moving forward in their lives. That’s where the Crime Victim Foundation of Michigan steps in.
The Katty Shack 5 race is this Saturday in Grand Haven. The 1-mile and 5K races start at 9 a.m. at the corner of Taylor and Wisconsin avenues. The have partnered wi the Grand Haven DDA for donations and prize giveways.
“Fuel Up For Katty Shack” pasta dinner is tonight at St. Patrick’s Family Center in Grand Haven from 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
