HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A few Ottawa County Parks will be set on fire on Sunday, and no, there’s no need to call 911! Weather permitting, portions of Hemlock Crossing, Robinson Forest Open Space, and Hiawatha Forest will undergo prescribed burns, controlled by The Ottawa County Parks and Recreation Commission. Prescribed burns area cost-effective tool to control invasive species such as spotted knapwood, reed canary grass, white sweet-clover and black locust. It also gives native plants a chance to grow back, which will provide food for a variety of wildlife.
