HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The largest graduating class in Hope College history, 766 seniors, participated in the school’s 150th commencement ceremony on Sunday.
The Hope Outstanding Professor Educator, awarded annually by the outgoing seniors, was assistant kinesiology instructor and co-athletic director Tom Schoonveld, who told a capacity crowd at Ray & Sue Smith Stadium in Holland to live lives of substance in a world that stresses appearances in his scheduled featured speaker address, “Into What World Are You Being Sent?”
School officials admit that it is not often that the HOPE award winner is also the commencement speaker.
