HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 6, 2022) – Herrick District Library will be celebrating Black History Month with a pair of upcoming events in February.
The first is on Wednesday, February 9th at 5 PM with the virtual Motherland Cooking Xperience, where participants will learn how to prepare Jollof rice and goat pepper soup through a program filled with music and story telling by the founder of Motherland Cultural Connections, Myra Maimoh.
The second is five days later, on Monday, February 14th. “Oludah Equiana and 18th Century Anti-Racism” is a live, hour-long presentation at the main library on River Avenue, beginning at 6:30 PM, by Calvin University history professor Eric Washington, the school’s director of the African and African diaspora program. He will go over the life and legacy of Equiano.
