DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Phillip Danault powered the Los Angeles Kings with two goals as they beat the Red Wings 5-3 in Detroit Wednesday night.
Danault put Los Angeles on the board in the second period, then followed it up with a third period score. The Kings scored three times in the final period to capture to win. Adrian Kempe tallied his 19th goal on the year on an empty netter.
Los Angeles improved to 24-16-and-7.
Michael Rasmussen, Tyler Bertuzzi and Joe Veleno each scored goals for Detroit, which dropped to 20-21-and-6. The Red Wings have lost five of their last seven heading into the All Star break.
The Red Wings will return to the ice against the Flyers in Philadelphia on February 9th.
