GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC) – Two separate one-car crashes has sent a Jenison man to the hospital then on to the Ottawa County Jail.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s were dispatched to the intersection of Cottonwood and 10th Ave overnight according to Sgt. J. Douglas. The first crash occured when a 2000 white Subaru station wagon was heading eastbound on Cottonwood Drive, ran off the roadway to the left and struck a utility pole. The utlilty pole then came to rest in the portion of the roadway.
The driver of this vehicle whose name is being withheld, received minor injuries and was taken to Zeeland Community Hospital for treatment before being released and lodged at the Ottawa County jail for misdemeanor charges.
The scond crash occured when a 2006 Ford Taurus was traveling westbound on Cottonwood Drive and struck the utility pole in the roadway that was lying there from the first crash.
The impact caused the Ford taurus driven by Tyler Hoezee, 19, of Jenison to overturn several times before coming to rest on it’s roof in the eastbound lane. Hoezee was not injured in the crash or cited in the incident.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and Consumers Energy worked overnight to remove power lines and the utility pole from the roadway.
The crash remains under investigation.
