ALLENDALE, MI (WHTC) – A traffic accident in Allendale Township yesterday morning left an eight-year-old girl in the hospital. At approximately 7:20 am on Friday, a 21-year-old Portland, MI resident named Josie Alberta was heading westbound on Lake Michigan Drive in Allendale Township. At the 48th Avenue intersection of Lake Michigan Drive, Alberta failed to see that the traffic light had changed to red and didn’t stop. 28-year-old Mancelona, MI resident Daphnea Sutherland was driving northbound into the intersection when Alberta broadsided her vehicle. Both Alberta and Sutherland were not injured, but Sutherland’s eight-year-old daughter who was riding in the backseat suffered minor injuries. Everyone involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts.
