TALLMADGE TWP, MI (WHTC) – Ottawa County Deputied were dispatched to Leonard Road west of 24th Avenue yesterday eveing in Tallmadge Township for a truck versus tree crash.
The investigation shows that Sarah VanDreumel, 32, of Coopersville, was westbound on Leonard Road on the curved section where it follows the Grand River when she reached down to scratch her leg and left the roadway. She struck a tree and after contact re-entered the roadway.
Ottawa County Sgt. Brian Buter of the Ottawa County Sherrif’s Office says VanDreumel swerved in front of Ronald Gogas, 71, of Norton Shores who was eastbound on Leonard. Gogas took evasive action and did not make contact with VanDreumel’s vehicle, however he did leave the roadway and struck a culvert on Leonard. After missing Gogas’ vehicle, VanDreumel drove into a small field.
Gogas was not injured in the crash. VanDreumel who was cited for careless driving, was transported to Spectrum-Butterworth hospital where she is listed in stable condition.
