WEST OLIVE, MI (WHTC) – A two-week-long online crowdfunding campaign by the Ottawa County Planning Commission for 60 thousand dollars by next Friday, July 24th, is still 35 grand away from its goal. Despite a 10-grand pledge from a “anonymous” donor, the target of 175 thousand to trigger matching funds for a four-foot-wide, three-mile-long bicycle lane along Lakeshore Drive between Butternut Drive and New Holland Street remains elusive. A path that meets American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials standards has already been built south of Grand Haven. Commission officials say that, if the money isn’t raised in time, the path won’t be built, since it would be part of a planned resurfacing of Lakeshore Drive. A link to details of the crowdfunding campaign is here.
