TALLMADGE TWP, MI (WHTC) – Ottawa County Deputies were dispatched to a rollover acident on Lake Michigan near 14th Avenue in the overnight hours on Sunday.
The driver whose name is being withheld due to possible charges, lost control of the car which went off the road and rolled over. According to Sgt. Matt Wilfong of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department, the Mercury Mountaineer was traveling eastbound on Lake Michigan Drive and lost control for an unknown reason. It is possible the vehicle had a mechanical failure which led to the loss of control, making the car go off the road and then rolling over.
The passenger Stephanie Orlikowski, 17, of Grand Rapids was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital with a cut on her leg and is listed in good condition. Both were wearing their seatbelts and the cause of the crash in not yet known.
Responding agencies were the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department Road Patrol, Wright-Tallamadge Fire Rescue and Life EMS.
