HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Groups across Michigan are collecting signatures for MI Legalize, a campaign to get marijuana legalization on the November 2016 ballot.
An Ottawa County group has been collecting signatures from registered voters at the Ottawa County Fair and the Coast Guard Festival this week.
The campaign proposes the legalization of all forms of marijuana for adults 21 and older, granting additional legal protections for patients and consumers, and establishing at 10 percent tax on recreational sales that will contribute to government funds for education and transportation.
The petition must collect 252,523 signatures from across the state by Christmas to get the proposal on next year’s ballot.
