GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC) – A 13-year-old Hudsonville boy was killed and nine others were hospitalized in a five-vehicle pileup that closed eastbound I-196 at the M-6 junction east of Hudsonville for several hours on Monday afternoon. Deputies say that pickup truck driver Travis Fox, a 40-year-old Crown Point, Indiana man, was distracted by eating as traffic ahead of him slowed due to bridge work. He apparently caused a chain-reaction crash that resulted in the on-scene death of 13-year-old David Talsma. A separate collision between two westbound vehicles near that area may have been related to rubberneckers trying to catch a glimpse of this pileup. The crash remains under investigation, and as per standard procedure on all fatal traffic incidents, the completed case will be forwarded to the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office to review for possible criminal action.
