HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Rising water levels are great for boaters and for shipping, but it’s also resulting in more debris piling up on beaches at Ottawa County parks. County Parks Department Operations Manager Bob Reichel says he’s seen more debris this year than any other since he started working for the county in 1996. The debris includes grass from dunes, but also pieces of sea walls, staircases, signs from other parks, plastic and more. No exact cost figures have been determined, but Reichel says the extra labor costs for the county are likely in the thousands of dollars.
