HOLLAND (WHTC) – What’s 70 feet long, almost 20 feet tall, 17 feet wide and weighs about a couple hundred tons each?
That’s the dimensions of the components for two heat recovery steam generators for the new Holland Energy Park. The components arrived in the Holland channel Friday by barge after a journey of several months from South Korea. Starting Sunday, the components will be transported from the Verplank dock via 13th Street to the new power plant. Mayor Bob VandeVusse says despite the weight of the components, it shouldn’t have an effect on the road surface because the weight is spread out over 20 axles. The generators will travel at a speed of two miles per hour. Holland police will close off streets along the transit route on a rolling basis each day through Wednesday to accommodate the generators.
