ALLENDALE, MI (WHTC) – 3 people were injured in a two-car crash in Allendale Saturday evening. At roughly 7:15 yesterday, 22-year-old Mohammed Alashgar was driving his car northbound on 72nd Avenue. Alashgar stopped at the intersection of 72nd Ave. and Filmore Street, thought the way was clear, and proceeded into the intersection.
At that time, 49-year-old Denis Weller passed through the intersection and hit Alashgar’s vehicle. Both Weller and Alashgar’s passenger, 20-year-old Aanas Wershesai received non-life-threatening injuries. The two were transported to Zeeland Community Hospital and are listed in stable condition.
Alashgar walked away from the accident with only minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene. The Ottawa County Sheriff Department issued Alashgar a citation for failing to yield to oncoming traffic, even though he states that he did not see Weller’s car approach the intersection.
