HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Holland Department of Public Safety Firefighters were dispatched to a fire at 357 Oxford Court in Abbey Court Apartments yesterday morning.
Upon entering the residence, fire fighters encountered a fire in the bathroom, extinguished it quickly after an hour. There were no occupants in the apartment at the time of the fire.
The exact cause of the fire is undetermined at this time but it does not appear to be intentional according to Captain Chris Tinney of the Holland Department of Public Safety. The estimated damage to the apartment unit was limited to approximately $5,000 to $7,000.
This is the third fire in a residence in the city since Friday and the HDPS reminds residents to test their smoke detectors, have an escape plan and take an active roll in preventing fires.
