Probation, Community Service, but No Jail in Fatal Holland Cyclist Crash

HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Eighteen months of probation and 200 hours of community service was handed down this afternoon to Christopher DenHerder. The 28-year-old Holland Township man pled no contest to a misdemeanor count after his vehicle struck and killed bicyclist Rojelio Beltran as the 47-year-old Holland man pedaled in front of him while crossing 18^th Street at River Avenue on May 2^nd. District Court Judge Susan Jonas opted not to sentence DenHerder to up to a year in jail due to having no prior record.
