GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – Opening statements were made and the first witnesses took the stand on Wednesday in the open murder trial of Victor Donaldson. The 17-year-old Holland area man is accused of stabling 18-year-old Ja’Paris Rodgers during a brawl along Riley Street on Holland’s North Side nearly 13 months ago. Prosecutors say that it was a premediated, gang-related incident, while the defense claims Donaldson was acting in self-defense. The trial before Ottawa County Circuit Court Judge Ed Post continues on Thursday and could last more than a week.
