HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The Holland Public Safety Department held an open house today for area high school and junior high students, giving them a tour of the 8th Street headquarters. Officers showed the youths all aspects of crime fighting and prevention, partly to serve as a deterrent, but mostly as a recruitment tool to spur those interested in pursuing a career in the field. Captain Jack Dykstra said that the department will be looking to hire more officers over the next few years due to scheduled retirements.
