LANSING, MI (WHTC) – In numbers released by the Michigan State Police, 52 of the 160 overall road-related fatalities over the past five years along the Lakeshore involved alcohol. There were 26 liquor-related traffic deaths each during that span in Allegan and Ottawa counties, with Allegan ranking 47th statewide with 68 overall casualties, and Ottawa 76th with 92. Last year, Allegan County had 13 road-related verall deaths, down two from 2013, while Ottawa County rose from 19 two years ago to 24 in 2014.
