SAUGATUCK-DOUGLAS, MI (WHTC) – All plans are in place for the arrival of the Stanley Cup in Saugatuck & Douglas, accompanied by Blackhawks Coach Paul Goodman, on September 05, 2015. The cup will make it’s debut in a boat parade that will be led by The Star of Saugatuck beginning around 3:00 p.m.
The Star of Saugatuck will leave it’s dock promptly at 3:00 pm to rendezvous on the opposite side of the harbor with four additional boats. These boats will fall-in behind the Star of Saugatuck as it proceeds past Coral Gables and Wicks Park along the Kalamazoo River en route to Lake Michigan then back during a 1.5 hour cruise.
The Stanley Cup will be the focal point of the parade and it will be displayed on board a yacht preceded by the Saugatuck-Douglas Fire Boat. Tower Marina’s River Queen will carry the Flat River City Big Band and provide music for the flotilla. There are still seats available on the Star of Saugatuck for those wishing to book seats at regular cruise rates of $19.
