ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM Jan. 21, 2022) – Two motorists were injured in a two-vehicle crash west of Allendale on Friday afternoon.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Eric Westveer, deputies and other first responders were dispatched to Lake Michigan Drive (M-45) at 84th Avenue around 4:50 PM. “The on-scene investigation showed that a 2015 Dodge Ram, driven by a 52-year-old woman from Coopersville, was eastbound on Lake Michigan Drive,” Westveer said in a department statement. “The Ram then stopped at 84th Avenue to turn left, or north, onto 84th Avenue. While stopped, waiting for traffic to clear, the Ram was rear-ended by another eastbound vehicle, a Dodge Caravan driven by a 35-year-old woman from Muskegon.”
The Muskegon woman was taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for treatment of serious injuries, while the Coopersville woman suffered minor ailments and was treated at the scene.
The crash closed M-45 for several hours, and the matter remains under investigation.
