LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Michigan takes pride in the amount of immigrants that it attracts and Governor Rick Snyder is dedicated to making those immigrants feel at ease throughout the state. He has proclaimed Sept. 12- 20 as the Welcoming Week in Michigan, an annual designation.
In 2014, Snyder established the Michigan Office for New Americans to help propel the state’s comeback by attracting and retaining immigrants, and promoting the skills, energy and entrepreneurial spirit of Michigan’s immigrant communities.
Several Welcoming week activities and events are scheduled around the state, with a highlight being the Welcoming Michigan Statewide Convening at Macomb Community College on Sept. 16.
