ZEELAND, MI (WHTC) – Ottawa County Deputies were dispatched to a motorcycle versus deer crash on Chicago Drive near 64th Avenue in Zeeland Township yesterday evening.
According to Sgt. Jay Douglas of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department, Judd VanderPlaats, 18, of Zeeland of eastbound on Chicago Drive near 64th Avenue on a 2007 Harley Davison motorcycle when a deer crossed the roadway in front of him. He was unable to avoid a collision with the deer.
VanderPlaats who was wearing a helmet was taken to Zeeland Community Hospital in good condition by AMR ambulance.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash and it remains under investigation.
