9/21 Monday: Tulipanes Festival: “Que Viva Mexico,” silent film with Sones de Mexico providing live accompaniment at De Witt Theatre- (1930) Silent film by Soviet filmmaker Sergei Eisenstein. Sones de Mexico will present a FREE 90 minute silent film screening and live score performance. 141 East 12th Street, Holland; 7:30pm; Free.

9/23 Wednesday: Perspectivas: Photography by Luis Fonseca, Roli Mancera and Raul Alejandro Velasco at the Holland Area Arts Council- Three photographers come together in the Arts Council’s Armstrong Gallery to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month. Luis Fonseca, Roli Mancera and Raul Alejandro Velasco were all born in Mexico and have rich backgrounds in art. Currently they work in photography to celebrate the culture and history Mexico, to hold a mirror up to the human condition, to call others to social action and, ultimately, to say what can’t be expressed with words alone. 150 E 8th St, Holland; 10am-8pm; Free.
9/24 Thursday: Jack Ridl Visiting Writers Series: Tom Andrews Memorial Reading – Matthew Baker & Kathleen McGookey at Jack H. Miller Center for the Arts, Hope College. Matthew Baker’s fiction has appeared in publications such as One Story, New England Review, The Southern Review, American Short Fiction and Best Of The Net, and his children’s novel If You Find This was published earlier this year by Little Brown. Kathleen McGookey’s prose poems and translations have appeared in many journals and anthologies including The Antioch Review, Boston Review, Crazyhorse, Denver Quarterly, Epoch, Field, Indiana Review, The Laurel Review, Ploughshares, The Prose Poem: An International Journal, Prairie Schooner, Quarterly West, Seneca Review, West Branch, and Willow Springs. She is the author of Whatever Shines (White Pine Press), October Again (Burnside Review Press), and Mended (Kattywompus Press), and translator of We’ll See (Parlor Press), a book of prose poems by contemporary French poet Georges Godeau. 9/25 Friday: VerHage Motors 21st Annual All Makes Car Show & Downtown Zeeland Cruise- Goody Bags for first 150 Participants, Food Concession, All makes & models welcome. MOPAR Collection is open and free to the public at the onsite VerHage Museum. Benefit raffles for Holland Rescue Mission and Solid Rock. Downtown Zeeland Cruise- Leaving North Street Church single file onto Main Street heading east at 7:45pm.
9/26 Saturday: Park2Park 1/2 Marathon and 5K at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds- The Park2Park 1/2 Marathon course starts and ends at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds and includes scenic views of Lake Macatawa, Holland State Park, and Lakeshore Drive. September temperatures are just right for a half – with an average chance for some automatic sweat relief (otherwise known as rain … some years heavier than others). The 5k run in Waukazoo Woods that starts and ends at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds. What else is there to look forward to? The end and the Park2Park signature MEATBALLS! 9/27 Sunday: FREEQuent FMG Movie Series at the Holland 7 Movie Theatre- Goodrich Quality Theaters presents the NEW FreeQuent FMG Movie Series beginning September 12th! As the name implies, those belonging to our Frequent Moviegoer Club (FMG) will be able to see any movie below free-of-charge when they present their FMG card at the box office. Each member will get up to 6 free admissions with their FMG card per show. Non-members will be charged $1.00 per ticket. Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 is showing on Sept. 27!
