HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Kid’s Food Basket in Holland will be hosting their Open House Celebration this Wednesday, September 23 at their location at 389 James St. in Holland.
The organization is a community solution to childhood hunger. Over 8,000 Ottawa County children live in poverty and close to 70% of the student population in Holland Public schools qualify for free/reduced lunch. Kid’s food Basket provides these children with Sack Suppers so that they have a meal to bring home, as for many their last meal of the day is school lunch.
Right now they are asking schools and communities to help them join in the attack against childhood hunger by decorating lunch bags. Their goal is to have 70,000 bags by Friday.
They are always looking for volunteers and a $1 donation a day provides a child with a nutritious evening meal. Click here to help. http://www.kidsfoodbasket.org/about-us/holland-location
