HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A 33-year-old Chicagoland man who allegedly assaulted and kidnapped a woman began this day in the Ottawa County Jail, awaiting extradition to Illinois. Carleous Clay was arrested at an apartment unit on Holland’s North Side after the 53-year-old victim’s car was found in the Tulip City. Authorities say that the woman had walked into her suburban Chicago home on Thursday night while Clay was in the process of burgling it. She was struck by a hammer blow, bundled into her car’s trunk, driven to Indiana, raped and dumped off. Michigan records show that Clay had been on parole since May, and has lived in the Holland area off and on for years. He has a court appearance at US District Court in Grand Rapids on Friday
