HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – September is Suicide Prevention Month and the community is invited to a free screening of a film called “Hope Bridge” next week at Zeeland East High school’s DeWitt Auditorium.
The film created by David and Christi Eaton, will explore the feelings of anger and guilt experienced by those who have lost someone to suicide. It will also discuss the signs of deep depression.
The Elhart family is bringing the message of suicide awareness to communities in West Michigan following the death of Wayne Elhart earlier this year. They were contacted by Cal De Kuiper about hosting a screening of the film in the school. Last year Zeeland East High School lost a student to suicide.
Elhart Automotive has also adopted the “Be Nice” campaign which is similar to the one in place at Zeeland schools. It’s designed to bring awareness about the importance of helping to reduce impacts of bullying, depression and suicide. http://www.themhf.org/education/be_nice1
The film will be screened Monday September 28 at 6:30 p.m. There is also another screening Tuesday October 6 at Georgetown United Methodist Church in Jenison.
