LANSING, MI (WHTC) – With Election Day five weeks from now, Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson is reminding residents that the voter registration deadline for the November 3rd balloting is next Monday, October 5th. Municipal government seats are primarily up for grabs in this off-year election statewide, including contested races in Holland, Douglas, Hudsonville and Grand Haven. There is also an eight-person GOP primary for most of Allegan County to see who will run against Democrat David Gernant in a March 8th Special Election for filling a state House seat vacated by Cindy Gamrat’s expulsion.
