COOPERSVILLE, MI (WHTC) – A two-week-long investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department into allegations of inappropriate conduct involving a volunteer coach in Coopersville Public Schools and a 14-year-old student has ended with a assault charge pending against the yet-to-be-named coach, a 31-year-old Coopersville resident. The county Prosecutor’s Office decided on the misdemeanor count based on evidence gathered by detectives through interviews with numerous persons. The coach involved is not yet in custody, but has agreed to surrender voluntarily to authorities at an undisclosed date. No other details surrounding the investigation were immediately disclosed.
