GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC) – In a federal criminal complaint filed at US District Court in Grand Rapids, two men were allegedly involved in a large-scale marijuana-growing operation at a residence off of M-40 south of Allegan. Tips led WEMET officers initially to the site in mid-April, when a strong scent of weed was noticed, and utility records showed “abnormally high” electrical use there. A bust two months later netted 227 plants and 40 pounds of processed pot, with Ernest Arias and Josue Salazar arrested. Further evidence pointed to a similar operation in Van Buren County. The two men are free on bond pending a grand jury indictment and November arraignment.
