HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) A South Haven teenager was killed in a car crash in Ganges Township in the 1200 block of Blue Star Highway in the early morning hours of Sunday November 1.
According to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office, 17-year-old Devon William-Lamarr Smiley’s vehicle appeared to travel off the road and struck a tree. The deputy on the scene checked the vehicle for any occupants and found a lone occupant in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
Smiley sustained severe injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Smiley was the quarterback of the South Haven High School football team and homecoming king. Police say he was was believed to have been headed home from a Halloween party when he crashed.
Alcohol and speed do not appear to be a factor in the crash and it remains under investigation.
