HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The community-wide Big Read Holland Area program coordinated through Hope College kicks off its three-week-long effort this evening during a celebration and lecture on the Holland school’s campus. Reading awareness events for teenagers and adults will be at a variety of locations through November 19th. The program will focus on the 1990 book “The Things They Carried,” written by Tim O’Brien, which follows an army platoon through the jungles of Vietnam through a collection of short stories.
