Holland SmartZone Given Green Light by MEDC

LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The Michigan Economic Development Corporation has given its blessing to the establishment of a SmartZone in the immediate Holland area. Serving as a satellite to its Grand Rapids base, this economic development tool will allow local communities to use tax increment financing to collect 50 percent of any increases in property tax value due and invest it for supporting technology business growth. The MSU Bioeconomy Institute site on Holland’s North Side is seen as a starting point for the local SmartZone effort that should be in full force by the end of next year.
