HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Officials of the newly merged Kraft Heinz say that the Holland pickle plant is not among seven North American plants slated for closure over the next two years. The downsizing that will eliminate 26 hundred jobs, or about 14 percent of the joint company workforce in the US and Canada, aims to reduce redundancy after the union of the two long-standing food production giants. The Holland plant, which has made pickles at its East 16th Street site since 1897, was Heinz’ lone such facility and accounted for around 15 percent of company sales prior to the merger with Kraft.
