GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – Two teens in were involved in a rollover crash in Grand Haven Township this morning. 17-year-old Marissa Buitendyk from Wyoming was driving with her passenger, 16-year-old Kayla Basham on northbound US 31 near Pierce St. when she lost control of the vehicle and went off the east side of the road.
Buitendyk tried to overcorrect and get back on the road, but instead caused the car to flip and land right-side up in the median. Grand Haven Township firefighters had to use the “Jaws of Life” to extricate Buitendyk, who had suffered a head injury during the crash.
Basham was not injured in the accident. Buitendyk was transported to Spectrum Hospital for her injury and her condition is unknown at this time. Both the driver and the passenger were wearing their seatbelts.
