Strong Winds to Strike Lakeshore Overnight

GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC) – Strong winds are predicted to hit the Lakeshore overnight, with a High Wind Watch and a Lakeshore Flood Warning taking effect at 1 AM Thursday, lasting through 5 AM on Friday. National Weather Service forecasters say that west winds between 25 to 35 miles per hour, with gusts of as high as 55 miles per hour, could lead to power outages and problems for high profile vehicles traveling north-south roads. The long duration of the gales off of Lake Michigan could generate waves of 10 to 15 feet, with severe beach and dune erosion expected, and water pushed farther inland than normal.
