Holland City Council’s vacant at-large seat is drawing attention, according to the city’s deputy clerk Anna Perales. She can’t name the interested parties but said she’s received four phone calls about the open seat.
Perales said. every caller has “questions about what the procedures (to apply) are.”
Candidates will each be interviewed publicly by city council. Interviews will be scheduled after the application deadline. Council veteran and former Mayor Bob Vande Vusse said he won’t apply for the seat, to give Mayor Nancy DeBoer a chance to settle into her term of office.
The new council member must be selected and sworn in by December 9.
To be eligible for the job, a candidate must be a Holland resident who is up-to-date on city and school taxes.
Applicants must submit a letter of intent and a resume to Perales by November 23.
