HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – In anticipation for the approaching Thanksgiving holiday, Amtrak has announced that it plans to accommodate the surge of holiday travelers with extra trains and additional capacity on several routes in the Midwest.
The week of Thanksgiving is often seen as the busiest travel week of the year, so Amtrak is adding extra trains and schedules to several of the Chicago hub corridors to downstate Illinois and to Michigan. Last year, Amtrak carried a record 772,211 passengers during the Thanksgiving travel period, the most ever for the holiday.
To create a hassle-free travel experience, the train company advises passengers to arrive early for their departures, check train schedules, carry a photo ID and most of all, to be safe during this travel season.
