PORT SHELDON, MI (WHTC) – A body was found floating in Lake Michigan near Pigeon Lake Pier yesterday morning. A duck hunter who was boating in the area near Port Sheldon sighted the body and called the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department at approximately 7:45 a.m. yesterday.
The hunter was not able to secure the body due to rough waters and then lost sight of the body. At 9:45 a.m. the body was again discovered floating near the shore and recovered by deputies. The identity of the body is being withheld, but the sheriff’s department was able to release that the body is of a male in his 60s from the Chicago area who was considered a missing person.
The cause of death is unknown at this time. The body was transported to Grand Rapids for a complete investigation and identification.
